Abstract
Diabetic and alcoholic polyneuropathies are the most common disturbances of the peripheral nervous system. Nearly every second diabetic patient develo ps the diabetic polyneuropathy during life time. From clinical viewpoint we differentiate sensible and sensomotoric types of manifestation of the disease. Focal neuropathies are rather seldom. Diabet ic autonomic neuropathy, especially cardiac autonomic neuropathy seems to b e diagnosed not early enough and is associated with increased mortality rat es.
