Video assisted breast conserving surgery

In 1985 first laparoscopic surgery was carried out. Since when many procedu res have developed. In our hospital vie have introduced laparoscoic cholecy stectomy first in 1992. Thereafter as we have mastered many procedures, and we have applied Video-Assisted Breast conserving Surgery(= VABS) to 19 cas es from 1997. In the field of VATS and laparoscopic surgery, the merit is a pparent. But the merit of VABS is unknown. Therefore we compare past 59 cases of conventional breast conserving surger y (= CB) with VABS, and report about the merit and demerit of VABS. Conclus ion is that there is no significant difference between VABS and CB except c osmetic outcome.
