Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of EHL in removing large, impacted CBD stones. 26 cases of bile duct stones were applied with intraop erative choledochoscopic EHL to remove stones that could not be retrieved e asily. Twelve cases were laparoscopic surgery and 14 cases were open surger y. The indications of EHL in laparoscopic surgery of the common bile duct s tones were large stone in 2 cases and impacted stone in 4 cases. 18 cases o f intrahepatic duct stone were applied with EHL for the impacted stones. St one clearance rate was 88.5 % and complication occurred in 3 cases (11.5%). One case of biliary fistula was managed conservatively and two cases of mu cosal bleeding of the bile duct were spontaneously controlled. Intraoperati ve choledochoscopic electrohydraulic lithotripsy is a safe and effective me thod for the removal of the large or impacted bile duct stones.
