Effect of vascular closure staples (VCS) for common bile duct repair in laparoscopic surgery

Non perforating vascular closure staple (VCS) clips (United Surgical Corpor ation) made of titanium were used common bile duct repair in laparoscopic s urgery in total 8 patients with common bile duct atones. The mean operation time was 180 minutes, however the time of repairing common bile duct were about 5 minutes. In all cases, drainage tube called C tube were inserted fr om cystic duct, and intraoperative cholangiography were performed. There wa s no bile leakage and stenosis of common bile duct was not seen in any case s. There were not major complication after operations. We suggest that ther e is possibility that VCS clip is easy and useful for laparoscopic closure of common bile duct.
