Abstract
Laparoscopic treatment for solid organs has been one of the optimal surgica l procedures. We experienced laparoscopic treatment for a splenic cyst in t hree patients. There were one male and two females. Their ages ranged from 19 to 63 years with a mean of 37. Their cysts were located at the upper pol e of the spleen in two and the lower pole in one. We carried out laparoscop ic splenectomy in one case and laparoscopic unroofing in two. One of them w as successfully performed by laparoscopic procedure using needlescopic inst ruments. The mean operation time and intraoperative bleeding volume were 23 0 min and 70 ml, respectively. There were no intra- and postoperative compl ications related to laparoscopic procedure. The mean postoperative hospital stay was 7 days. Laparoscopic treatment for a splenic cyst is a technicall y feasible and safe method with less postoperative pain, short convalescenc e and cosmetic benefits. After acquiring own skill, needlecopic procedure f or solid organs such as a splenic cyst becomes possible.
