Abstract
The aim of this study is to present the indications and the operative proce dure, and to analyze the clinical results of laparoscopic surgery for adhes ive ileus. Thirty-six patients with adhesive postoperative ileus underwent operation. Twelve patients underwent open surgery from the first. Twenty-fo ur patients were tried laparoscopic surgery with, pneumoperitoneum. The ope ration was completed lapaloscopically in 18 patients (75%) and with laparos copic assisted procedure in 3(12.5%); 3(12.5%) required conversion to open surgery because of incomplete decompression. In laparoscopic surgery, an av erage operation time was 115 minutes, and an average postoperative hospital stay was 11.3 days. Those were significantly shorter than those of open su rgery during the same period. We suggest that laparoscopic adhesiotomy is u seful because of its minimal invasiveness, if we could get effective decomp ression.
