The growth of a supercritical nucleus from a diffusion field is studie
d numerically using a phase-field model. This represents growth of a c
rystal with small or vanishing anisotropy. We find three-dimensional c
ooperating multiplets instead of dendrites, in analogy to the doublons
found previously in two dimensions. Tripler structures in particular
appear to be the building blocks of the resulting morphology under con
ditions of free growth in three dimensions.
