Abstract
Recurrent idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura due to residual splenic tissu e after splenectomy is uncommon. Location of the offending splenic tissue c an be technically demanding. A small accessory spleen was localized intraop eratively with a handheld gamma probe after standard technetium-labeled hea t-damaged red blood cell scan of the liver and spleen.
