Abstract
Cr(salen) catalysed asymmetric ring opening reactions of epoxides with TMSN 3 proceed readily in the room temperature ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimid azolium salts ([bmim][X]) with easy catalyst/solvent recycling.
