A new route to dilithio boraamidinates: formation and X-ray structures of the dimeric and trimeric clusters {Li-2[RB(NBut)(2)]}(x) (R = Bu-n, x=2 andR = Me, x=3)

The dilithio boraamidinate complexes {Li-2[RB(NBut)(2)]}(x) (R = Bu-n, x = 2 and R = Me, x = 3), prepared unexpectedly by treating B[N(H)Bu-t](3) with 3 equiv. LiR, represent the first structurally characterized s-block metal derivatives of the boraamidinate ion.
