Abstract
Polymer-analogous conversions of polymers with anhydride structures are int eresting reactions which produce polymers with increased or reduced thermal stability dependent on the introduced side chains. Polymer reactions in th e melt are performed in the kneader (discontinuous) and in the extruder (co ntinuous). In contrast to chemical conversions in solution or suspension, s olvents and detergents are not necessary. The reactions of MA copolymers wi th omega-amino acids have, until now, only been studied in solution with al ternating S/MA copolymers.
