Prevalence of CagA and VacA antibodies in children with Helicobacter pylori-associated peptic ulcer compared to prevalence in pediatric patients withactive or nonactive chronic gastritis
T. Alarcon et al., Prevalence of CagA and VacA antibodies in children with Helicobacter pylori-associated peptic ulcer compared to prevalence in pediatric patients withactive or nonactive chronic gastritis, CL DIAG LAB, 7(5), 2000, pp. 842-844
VacA and CagA serological responses were detected in pediatric patients: 44
and 56%, respectively, in peptic ulcer (PU) patients, 33.3 and 44.4% in ac
tive chronic gastritis (ACG) patients, and 23.2 and 39.2% in non-ACG patien
ts. Higher seroprevalence to CagA+VacA and to CagA+VacA+35-kDa antigen was
found among PU patients. However, a low level of sensitivity and specificit
y was found for indirect detection of PU patients.
