BACKGROUND. Drooping, cascading epicanthal skin is a common phenomenon in t
he elderly, but its surgical removal and reconstruction has not been docume
nted.
OBJECTIVE. A surgical technique is described to quickly and efficiently rem
ove excessively drooping epicanthal tissue and to reconstruct an aesthetica
lly pleasing lateral nose to epicanthal area.
METHOD. Photographs of a woman with severe involvement are utilized to port
ray the surgical methodology.
RESULTS. Reconstruction of an acceptable lateral nose to epicanthal concavi
ty was easily and safely accomplished.
CONCLUSION. Excessive lateral nose and epicanthal skin can be removed and t
he area reconstructed by the described technique using local anesthesia in
a simple operation.
