Abstract
This report presents the results of a vaccine coverage survey that was perf ormed in the Tyrol (Austria) in 1997. The major finding is that pockets of children susceptible to poliomyelitis currently exist in the area, because of delayed immunisation. The cause for the delay is the practice of interru pting oral poliomyelitis vaccine (OPV) administration during summer months.
