Abstract
We investigated the effects of diesel exhaust particulates on the human all ergic response using in vivo human nasal challenges. Diesel particles and p henanthrene, one of their constituent polyaromatic hydrocarbons, were shown to enhance total allergic antibody (IgE) production, enhance allergen-spec ific IEE in the presence of allergen, and induce sensitization to a neoanti gen.
