Abstract
We measured the time and dose characteristics of electron and X-radiation o f the IMIZ-150E 1503 tube connected to the subnanosecond megavolt SPIN-2 ac celerator. About similar to 5 x 10(12) electrons per pulse are generated wh en the accelerating-voltage pulse is greater than or equal to 600 kV high a nd congruent to 0.3 us long. The current amplitude reaches similar to 5 kA, and the radiation dose is similar to 5 kGy/pulse. The X-ray dose from the external tantalum target is 0.15 Gy/pulse. The development of the electron- tube and X-ray-tube prototypes with considerably smaller sizes has opened u p new fields of application in medicine and engineering.
