Abstract
A spinning sky lantern was called as a gyratory lantern. The convective hea t transfer from the surface of the gyratory lantern were investigated exper imentally in this paper. Quantaties obtained include rotative speeds, tange ntial forces, temperature distribution and local average convective heat tr ansfer coefficients. Results show that a great amount of heat transfer from the middle part but only a small amount of heat transfer from the bottom p art of the lantern. It also indicates that the rotative speeds of the gyrat ory lantern increase with the exhaust-opening, the spinning gyratory lanter n stir the ambient cold air to accelerate the convective heat transfer, the refore, the convective heat transfer can be enhanced by moving the gyratory lantern quickly.
