This paper describes the development and operation of a rotating double eff
ect absorption chiller, which uses an aqueous solution of mixed metal hydro
xides as the absorbent. The design principles are outlined including the op
eration of the major components and the ways in which the integration of th
e processes has been achieved. The operation of the fluid management system
is described. Experimental performance data are presented from laboratory
testing for the machine operating as a chiller. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science L
