C. Schramm et al., Rapid development of Epstein-Barr virus-associated Hodgkin's disease aftercessation of foscarnet therapy in an HIV-infected patient, INT J STD A, 11(9), 2000, pp. 609-610
Epidemiological features suggest a link between Hodgkin's disease (IID) and
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection(1). Indeed, EBV genome and expression o
f latent antigens can be found in Reed-Sternberg cells(1). In the majority
of cases I-ID in HIV patients seems to be EBV-associated(2). We report on a
51-year-old HIV-infected patient in whom EBV-positive HD of mixed cellular
ity rapidly developed within one month after cessation of treatment with in
travenous foscarnet.
