Abstract
This paper presents a track misregistration (TMR)-oriented optimization of a suspension based milliactuator, the Merlion actuator. Controllers for dif ferent variations of the Merlion actuator are designed to obtain the corres ponding optimal TMR. A TMR prediction function was derived to estimate the achievable TMR based on the actuator's resonant frequencies and amplitudes. The TMR prediction function can be used to assist the selection of the act uated suspension mechanical design parameters.
