The thermophysical properties of uranium dioxide play an important role whe
n discussing reactor safety issues. In the following paper data for the den
sity of liquid UO2 are critically assessed and a new model is proposed. For
two different temperature ranges, 3120 K less than or equal to T less than
or equal to 4000 K and 4000 K less than or equal to T less than or equal t
o 5000 K, approaches for the assessment of the density of liquid UO2 are pr
esented and uncertainties are given.
