Abstract
A new structure-directing agent (SDA), 1-azoniatricyclo[4.4.4.0(1,6)]tetrad ecane hydroxide, was synthesized and its performance in the synthesis of al uminosilicate molecular sieve materials was investigated. 1-azoniatricyclo[ 4.4.4.01 6]tetradecane was found to lead to the ITE and IFR topologies. The ITE-type zeolite named Mulhouse No. 14 (Mu-14) was synthesized as a single phase when the Si/Al ratio of the starting gel varied between 15 and 30. I ncreasing the Si/Al ratio over 45 led to the formation of an IFR-type mater ial, and quartz or a layered silicate as coproducts. Mu-14 was characterize d by XRD, SEM, TG/DTA, N-2 adsorption, Si-29 MAS and CP-MAS MNR, Al-27 MAS NMR, C-13 MAS and liquid NMR, and chemical analyses. (C) 2000 Elsevier Scie nce B.V.
