Abstract
Imaging plates have been used as position sensitive detectors for positrons . A linear relation is obtained between the positron fluence and the output signal intensity readout by a "PIXsysTEM II" (pixelized to 25 mu m x 25 mu m), using Co-58 and Na-22 positron emitters. The linearity extends to six decades from 10(5) to 10(11) positrons/cm(2). The plates are good to use fo r positron microscopy. Sensitivities of one gamma-ray photon relative to a positron are 0.0125, 8.28 x 10(-3) and 3.4 x 10(-3) for Zn-65, Co-59 and Na -22, respectively. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
