Abstract
A meeting on April 29, 1999, in Wilmington, Delaware, examined a variety of import ant issues related to viral infections in patients undergoing hemao poietic stem cell transplants. This volume represents some of the most impo rtant and most recent thoughts on the particular viral infections of great significance to the stem cell therapy patient and how those infections ough t to be managed. This paper provides an introduction to the subjects discus sed, presents the problem areas and summarizes the meeting objectives.
