Abstract
We have demonstrated simultaneous existence of progesterone receptors and G TPase activity in the membranes prepared from the filamentous fungus Rhizop us nigricans. The results obtained with pertussis toxin treated fungal myce lium suggest that these receptors do not couple to G(i)-G(o)-proteins and p lay a role in the induction of steroid hydroxylating enzyme system by stero id substrates in the fungus.
