Abstract
We present an extension of the method of discrete momentum representation t o the calculation of elastic electron scattering from polar molecules. The essence of this method is the subtraction of the first Born term from the L ippmann-Schwinger equation, which is solved for a modified interaction pote ntial from which the long-range part is removed. Forward scattering is desc ribed in the first Born approximation. The use of this method is demonstrat ed for electron scattering from the H2O molecule in the static-exchange app roximation. The results are in goad agreement with former calculations as w ell as with experiments.
