A modified freezing full-core method is introduced and applied to calculati
ons of lithium in strong magnetic fields up to 10(10) G. The accuracy of re
sults is higher than that from unrestricted Hartree-Fock calculations. In t
he absence of magnetic fields, our results agree with the most accurate cal
culations to within 0.02%. We also discussed the effect of strong magnetic
fields on core electrons.
