Surface morphology, appearance & tribology of electrodeposited tin films

The appearance of electrodeposited tin has been classified as matte, satin- bright and bright. Obviously, this "appearance" classification is qualitati ve and subject to interpretation,It would be useful ifa quantitative method could be developed, based on reflectivity (glossiness) to describe the sur face appearance. Moreover, it would be fundamentally interesting to underst and the relationships among surface "glossiness," surface morphology, the s tructure of the electrodeposited film, and its effects on tribological beha vior, such as the coefficient of friction and wear resistance.
