Abstract
The attempted lactonisation of unsaturated diols 8, 13, and 15 using s odium bromite in aqueous acetic acid gave the bromo lactols 9, 16, and 18 respectively. The bromo lactols were converted to their correspond ing lactones 10, 17, and 19 using Jones reagent. (C) 1997 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
