Abstract
An experiment to investigate the Ni-58+Ni-58 reaction at E/A = 30 MeV was p erformed at the Superconducting Cyclotron of the INFN Laboratorio Nazionale del Sud. In peripheral collisions massive fragments (4 less than or equal to Z less than or equal to 12) emission from neck-like structures joining p rojectile-like and target-like residues has been observed in coincidence wi th other reaction products. Their emission patterns exhibit features consis tent with dynamical fragmentation of a neck zone between the interacting nu clei. In addition, at the same time the projectile-like and target-like res idues are subject to statistical decay.
