In this contribution we present a nonrelativistic transition potential to d
escribe the nonmesonic weak decay of Lambda and Lambda Lambda hypernuclei.
This potential is based on a one-meson-exchange (OME) model which includes,
in addition to the long-ranged pion, the exchange of the pseudoscalar eta,
ii and the vector rho,omega,K* mesons. Realistic baryon-baryon (BB) potent
ial models for the S = 0, -1 and -2 sectors are used in order to account fo
r the strong BE interaction. Results obtained for different Lambda hypernuc
lei are compared to the available experimental data, including partial and
total decay rates as well as asymmetries in the angular distribution of the
outgoing particles.
