Abstract
A simple derivation based on the generalized Hellmann-Feynman theorem is gi ven for the three-term recursion relation for (r(N)) in the energy eigensta tes of a hydrogenic atom and the harmonic oscillator in one, two, and three dimensions. (C) 2000 American Association of Physics Teachers.
