Ta. Hall et al., COLOR TEMPERATURE-MEASUREMENT IN LASER-DRIVEN SHOCK-WAVES, Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics, 55(6), 1997, pp. 6356-6359
A simultaneous measurement of color temperature and shock velocity in
laser-driven shocks is presented. The color temperature was measured f
rom the target rear side emissivity, and the shock velocity by using s
tepped targets. A very good planarity of the shock was ensured by the
phase zone plate smoothing technique. A simple model of the shock lumi
nosity has been developed in order to estimate the shock temperature f
rom the experimental rear side emissivity. Results have been compared
to temperatures obtained from the shack velocity for a material of a k
nown equation of state.
