Abstract
Validity is an important property of solid modeling representations. It ens ures that representations always describe physically realizable solids, ins tead of nonsense objects. This paper surveys and supplements the mathematic al theory of ideal boundary representation (B-rep) of solids. In particular , it presents a complete set of conditions on representational nodes of a t ypical B-np data structure and proves their sufficiency for model validity. Such conditions are useful in invalid model rectification procedures. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
