G. Mocanu et al., Immobilization of biomolecules in hydrophobically modified carboxymethylcellulose microparticules, EUR POLYM J, 36(11), 2000, pp. 2381-2386
This article presents the synthesis of microparticles of carboxymethylcellu
lose, and of their derivatives obtained by chemical modifications with hydr
ophobic groups (with C-16 or C-16 + C-4 amines). Their physico-chemical pro
perties (DS, swelling, etc.) as well as their retention properties were det
ermined to test these new supports for immobilization/ separation of biolog
ical active substances such as ampicilline, ampicilline//lysozyme mixture a
nd other proteins. The hydrophobically modified supports present a high cap
acity for adsorption of lysozyme the, the enzymatic activity of lysozyme be
ing maintained. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
