Abstract
To determine the effect of added fat on the ruminal protein degradability a nd intestinal digestibility of oat, rapeseed meal (RSM) and dried sugarbeet pulp (DSBP), three Jersey heifers (450kg) with ruminal and intestinal cann ulae were fed on complete diets containing 0, 3 and 6% rapeseed oil. Effect ive protein degradability (79% for oat, 64% for RSM and 45% for DSBP) diffe red significantly. Addition of 6% RS oil slightly reduced the effective pro tein digestibility of DSBP. Intestinal digestibility also depended on the t ype of feed and addition of 6% rapeseed oil increased it for RSM and DSBP.
