Using picosecond time domain reflectometry (TDR), dielectric relaxation stu
dies have been carried out for methyl acetate + methanol, methyl acetate ethanol, and methyl acetate + propan-1-ol mixtures over the frequency range
10 MHz to20 GHz at (288, 298, 308, and 318) K. The relaxation in this syst
em can be described by a single relaxation time using the Debye model. The
bilinear calibration method and least-squares fit method have been used to
obtain dielectric parameters viz. static dielectric constant (epsilon(0)),
dielectric constant at microwave frequency (epsilon(infinity)), and relaxat
ion time (tau). The Kirkwood correlation factors have also been obtained fo
r the systems. The values of the static dielectric constant and the relaxat
ion time increase with an increase in the percentage of alcohol in methyl a
cetate.
