Abstract
The computed energetic profile for molecular complexes between magnesium at oms and the magnesium cation with atomic and molecular oxygen have been pre sented. The target of the study was to determine bond dissociation energies , and the electron transfer in MgO2+ and the possibility to generate the ma gnesium cation through the interactions of the magnesium atom with the mole cular oxygen cation. It was also considered that the presence of this compl ex (MgO2+) in the Earth's upper atmosphere might influence the oxygen-ozone ratio. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
