4-Chloro-5,7-dinitrobenzofurazan and 7-chloro-4,6-dinitrobenzofuroxan-new spray reagents for the detection of amino compounds on thin-layer plates

4-Chloro-5,7-dinitrobenzofurazan (benz-2,1,3-oxadiazole) and 7-chloro- 1,6- dinitrobenzofuroxan (benz-2,1,3-oxadiazole N-oxide) are reported as a spray reagents for the detection of amino compounds on thin-layer chromatography plates. The reagents produce different colors with primary, secondary, and tertiary amino compounds. These colors can be used for direct identificati on of some of the compounds, and to assist in their detection.
