The fluorescence properties of Eu3+-doped LaVO4, (La-0.75,Y-0.25)VO4, (La0.
5Y0.5)VO4 (La-0.25,Y-0.75)VO4, and YVO4 powder phosphors are reported. The
phase purity was checked by XRD and FT-IR spectra. The values of relative f
luorescence intensity ratios (R) and color coordinates ((X) over bar,(Y) ov
er bar) were found to increase significantly with an increase in the yttriu
m concentration. Both thermal analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SE
M) studies were carried our to characterize the samples. (C) 2000 Elsevier
