Abstract
The optical properties of mesoporous silica fibers grown in an acid synthes is have been analyzed by birefringence measurements. Comparison with the th eoretical models for the internal structure of these fibers allows the conc lusion that the hexagonally ordered pores are running in a circular directi on around the fiber axis.
