Abstract
The ATLAS collaboration has chosen for the electromagnetic barrel calorimet er and for all the end-cap calorimeters a sampling technique, with liquid a rgon as the active medium. The read-out electronics and the calibration pul sers are located in boxes outside the cryostats housing the detectors. Sign als are transmitted between the detectors and the electronic boxes through custom-designed micro-coaxial cables, which an the subject of this paper. T hese cables have to satisfy very stringent tolerances in terms of signal tr ansmission, dimensions and radiation hardness. Following a successful pre-s eries production, these cables have been selected for equipping the ATLAS c alorimeter. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
