Abstract
Stabilization of passive harmonic mode locking is achieved for what is beli eved to be the first time in an Er-Yb soliton fiber laser by optical pumpin g of the semiconductor saturable absorber above the bandgap. The results sh ow 35-dB mode suppression of undesired harmonics. (C) 2000 Optical Society of America.
