N. Benamrouche et al., DETERMINATION OF IRON LOSS DISTRIBUTION IN INVERTER-FED INDUCTION-MOTORS, Electric machines and power systems, 25(6), 1997, pp. 649-660
An approach based on the temperature-time method was used to investiga
te the iron loss density distribution in a 4 kW, 415 V, 3-phase, 4-pol
e induction motor under both sinusoidal and inverter fed conditions. A
test rig was constructed to allow loss densities to be evaluated at d
iscrete points within the machine. A model based on interpolate functi
ons was constructed to give the full lass density distribution through
out the stator iron. It is shown that iron losses increase considerabl
y towards the ends of the stator core stack, particularly for the inve
rter fed case. The results are verified with those obtained from estab
lished models based on an equivalent circuit representations.
