Abstract
Effect of copper on the structure formation and mechanical characteristics of high-strength cast iron was studied. Alloying with copper was shown to f avor the formation of fine pearlitic structure. The alloy containing to 1.0 % copper has a wholly pearlitic structure with globular graphite. This allo y has higher mechanical characteristics as compared to copper-free alloys. The mechanism of copper effect on the structure formation in the cast iron is considered.
