Abstract
Recent experimental results on electroconvection in homeotropic nematic liq
uid crystals are summarized. Static and dynamic properties of the patterns
at and above threshold are discussed. The azimuthal angle of the director i
s determined for various pattern morphologies (normal, abnormal and CRAZY r
olls). Preliminary results on controlled defect motion are presented. (C) 2
