Abstract
A novel long chain fatty ester, pentyl hentriacontanoate 1 and an orange re d pigment, caulerpin 2 have been isolated and characterised from a red alga Chondria armata. The pigment caulerpin hitherto known to be a constituent of green algae of genus Caulerpa is being reported here for the first time from a red alga. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
