Nv. Tsvetkov et al., Electrooptical and dielectric properties of comb-shaped poly(methacrylates) with various dipole architecture of mesogenic groups, POLYM SCI A, 42(7), 2000, pp. 718-720
A number of mesogenic poly(methacrylates) with the varying dipole architect
ure of mesogenic nuclei were studied by equilibrium electric birefringence,
dielectric measurements, and refractometry. It was shown that the introduc
tion of halogen substituents into the mesogenic nuclei leads to a reduction
in the dipole moments and the Kerr constant for the polymers under study.
The effect of the dipole structure of macromolecules on the electrooptical
characteristics of the studied poly(methacrylates) was analyzed.
