The clinical signs, pathogenesis and therapy of feline fibroadenomatosis is
presented. The possibility of a therapy by an antigestagen is described, w
here the ability to breed with the affected cat is still possible. Because
of the relation between the hormone progesterone and the hypertrophy of the
mammary gland, this disease occurs in the time of the cycle, when this ste
roid hormone has a high concentration in plasma. An extraordinary case is t
he development of this disease after exogene applications of depot gestagen
s, which can also produce fibroglandic hypertrophy of the mammary glands in
the male cat.
