An innovative information technology solution was developed for Scotland's largest road project to be procured under the private finance initiative-a stretch of the M6 north-west of Carlisle. The solution was designed to prov ide information to support the partnering culture and to promote openness a nd trust between the project partners. Using a groupware product, a range o f integrated information management and workflow applications were develope d to meet both the overall project requirements and the needs of individual organizations. The project set a new benchmark in the use of this type of system.
